Mother’s Day is almost here. If you’re a mother with grown children, you might receive flowers, candy, dinner invitations or some other type of pleasant recognition. May: From the Editor

Mother’s Day: Celebration or reflection? Mother’s Day is coming up, and mothers everywhere are waking up in fear. Caught between adorable starry-eyed children with the breakfast in bed, and fear of the disaster they have left in their wake. Ok. It’s not that bad. But it’s funny to think about, right? This issue of the ECHO Magazine shows motherhood from a few different perspectives. My children are older now, so the disasters are somewhat limited. A different point of view

he snow is starting to melt, it's starting to feel like spring, and Mother's Day is coming up. Mother's Day is a very special holiday that celebrates mothers and all their hard work. My mom has two kids (including me) and a wonderful puppy to help her celebrate. I could have written what I think about Mother's Day, but I decided I wanted to do something different. Instead, I interviewed my mom, to learn about Mother's Day from her perspective.

Waiting for Mother’s Day

Jeannette and her husband had been married for about a year when they decided to start their family. Months passed, then years without success. Staying positive became more and more difficult. She was being told by her doctors that nothing was wrong, and yet nothing was right either. There were social situations that became overwhelming for her, seeing a little boy drinking hot chocolate, conversations with other couples that centered around their children, watching groups of children play, dance and have fun together. She was happy for her friends with families, but couldn't understand why she was unable to conceive. “You just didn’t know; there were some days I could handle it, other days I couldn’t.”

Ah, Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day. That blessed day when moms across the world get a break and have a celebration just for them. Maybe your idea Mother's Day is breakfast in bed. Perhaps it is a massage, a bubble bath or dinner out. Whatever it is, dreams of Mother’s Day are certain to involve relaxation as you revel in the love of your family. Of course, this is all fantasy.
