Chugiak’s Liam Baez-Terry signs letter of intent to run cross country for Montana State University-Northern

Chugiak High School distance runner Liam Baez-Terry had his college signing day April 26th where he signed his letter of intent to run for the Montana State University-Northern men’s cross country team next fall.   Joined by his parents Laura and Michael, coaches and teammates honored Baez-Terry for his four years of consistent hard work and dedication on the Mustang cross country and track teams.  Located in Havre, Montana, the MSU-Northern Cross Country team competes in the NAIA Frontier Conference with member schools from Montana, Idaho and Oregon.

ANCHORAGE, Jan. 8, 2018 – Caitlin Patterson finished her special four-race performance at the 2018 L.L.Bean U.S. National Cross Country Ski Championships at Kincaid Park on Monday the way she started it Wednesday – by blowing the doors off the competition. Monday’s late and dramatic come-from-behind win in the women’s classic sprint final capped Patterson’s run of four National titles in four races over six days.

The L.L.Bean U.S. Cross Country Championships begin January 3

ANCHORAGE, AK – The top cross-country skiers from across Alaska and America will compete for more than prestigious national titles in the 2018 L.L.Bean U.S. Cross Country Championships, which begin Wednesday, January 3, and continue through Monday, January 8, at Kincaid Park. The races will also be used as part of the selection process for Olympic berths as well as to determine roster spots on the FIS Junior World Championship, U23 Championship and U18 Scandinavian Cup teams.The competitions will feature two freestyle and two classic events for men and women. The top American in each race will be crowned national champion. While primary selection for the 2018 Olympic Cross Country Team will come from World Cup races, some final spots can be determined from Nationals results. Olympic team nominations will be announced the week of January 23.

NSAA Season Kickoff event offers free family fun, community outdoor programs and Alaska’s Olympic skiing stars

As Southcentral Alaska’s winter enthusiasts patiently wait for snow to stick around the region, Anchorage’s Nordic ski community starts its season with a party at Sunday’s NSAA Season Kickoff. This year’s event is highlighted by a meet-and-greet with Alaska’s Olympic and World Cup Nordic skiing stars Kikkan Randall, Sadie Bjornsen, Erik Bjornsen, Rosie Brennan and Scott Patterson. They will sign posters, pose for photos and join NSAA in promoting the 2018 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, which take place January 3-8 at Kincaid Park in Anchorage. All are expected to compete in February’s 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
