It’s WEEK EIGHT of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap. Eagle River Ale House vs. OMR Brewing. Second place Eagle River Ale House vs. fourth place OMR Brewing. Leading off the scoring was OMR’s Jason Novotny. He got the first goal at 12:08 of the first period. That’s how the first period ended, 1-0 OMR. It was the second period that saw all the action. A combined seven goals were scored.

It’s WEEK EIGHT of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AAA recap. Jalapenos vs. Homesteaders It didn’t take long for Jalapenos to get on the board. At 16:07, forward Robert Monfore got the first of his two goals of the night with helper going to Ben Russell. It was all Jalapenos in the second. Dylan Kingrea, Robert Monfore and Brian “Swany” Swanson all scored and Russell notched his second assist on Swanson’s goal with :02 remaining in the period.

Local Athletes Bring Wrestling to the Top

Community and fierce competition define Eagle River’s wrestling teams. While the schools in Eagle River boast programs with state champions and titles, the sense of family from participating in such a challenging sport provides the primary draw for athletes and coaches. Austin Kraft, a senior at Eagle River High School (ERHS), says the thing he likes most about wrestling is that the wrestling community feels like a family. He explains, “I feel like it’s not just my school caring for me but the entire wrestling community caring for each other.”

Eagle River Hockey League: AAA Week Six

Jalapenos (5-1-0) who was undefeated took on second place Pizza Man (4-1-1). Watching the game from the stands was Jalapenos starting goaltender, Seth Kollman who was out with a tweaked shoulder. His backup, Buck Wicks, was in the net. Jalapenos forward, Robert Monfore, quipped to teammates prior to the game, “It’s gonna be a one long boys, we have a short bench.”

Eagle River Hockey League: AA Week Five

The early contest was Cub’s Painting vs. Shines Sushi. Cub’s playing with only two forward lines and two defensive lines got on the board at 15:56 of the first period with a goal by James Kostka and an assist from Zach Meehan. With Cub’s Ryan Ciolkosz in the box for checking, Shines’ forward, Nicholas Bennett, streamed up the boards on a breakaway and snapped a wicked wrister that clanked off the post and to the sideboards. That’s as close as Shines got in the first period.
