Cheering Gets Chilly: Chugiak Cheer Team Fundraising for Warmer Gear

“GO! GO! GO!” The fans cheer as Chugiak scores. They are led by the hard-working Chugiak Cheer Team, whatever the weather - wind, rain or snow. Despite their own athleticism, the Chugiak cheer team does have some downtime while they await a playmaking cheer to get them moving. Even if they’re moving, it can get downright cold here in the 49th state. Often times, that means the girls are keeping the elements at bay with a just clear poncho over their uniforms.

Brewing Up Controversy Over the Eagle River Hockey League: Setting the Record Straight for Reid McDonald

The Beer League has brewed up some controversy. Let’s take a closer look into what is happening at the Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center and with its operators. Rodney Wild, Head coach of the hockey program at Chugiak High School, took issue with a recent STAR article in which Reid McDonald’s intentions and integrity were called into question. Wild had a strong rebuttal argument, stating that Reid McDonald (manager of the MAC) has brought significant new revenue streams with the addition of Beer League, while simultaneously reducing costs.
