JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — The Alaska Army National Guard is hosting the 2nd annual Guard for a Day event on Camp Carroll here April 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is targeted towards individuals considering joining the Alaska Army National Guard, active duty Soldiers considering transition into the Guard, Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadets, Junior ROTC cadets, Alaska Military Youth Academy Cadets and anyone wanting to know more about being a Citizen-Soldier.
Guard for a Day attendees will have the opportunity to explore first-hand Alaska National Guard Soldiers and equipment used to respond during domestic disasters and worldwide contingency operations.
Static display features include a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, UH-72 Lakota helicopter, armored vehicles and weapons. Active demonstrations include combat lifesaving, checkpoint operations, civil disturbance and food services.
