From Jon Van Zyle:
One of my earliest and lasting memories of Lee: In the mid-1970s, I approached Lee asking for the possibility of a part-time job at his Eagle River Star Newspaper. I needed the extra money to help with the expenses of my 1976 Iditarod Race and dog team. Lee gave me the job to paste up the weekly columns and ads. I believe to this day that Lee gave me that job, out of the goodness of his heart; just trying to help a young man out. I have never forgotten his kindness. Rest in Peace Lee, save a space for me at your paste-up table in Heaven.
