Membership Growth Changes Lives
October 17, 2018 by Lion Karen Burns in Lions
Each new Lion impacts 70 people a year on average. A strong membership will position us for success in our next century of service.

It is an exciting time for Lions across the world to have our very first Lion from Iceland to become the International President. OH AND also the first woman Lions International President.

From our President:

President’s Theme – Beyond The Horizon

There’s a world of service yet to be reached, even by Lions. During International President Gudrun Yngvadottir’s year at the helm of Lions International, we’ll reach within our district, clubs, and selves to reach levels of humanitarian good the world has never known.

Presidential Focus – Harnessing the Power of 1.4 Million Lions

International President Yngvadottir’s programs and initiatives will focus on four key elements of Lions International that are important to moving the association forward.
  1. Moving membership forward
  2. Increasing leadership development
  3. Promoting the fellowship of Lions
  4.  Sharing our stories

We live in the State with the highest mountain in North America, “Denali – The Great One” formerly known as Mt. McKinley. I encourage Lions here in Alaska to help take Lions Clubs International to new heights by inviting new members. We strive to expand our association because the more members we welcome and clubs we charter, the more we can change lives at home and around the world.

Each new Lion impacts the lives of 70 people a year on average.

That means each new member will serve 70 more people in our district. Just imagine how many lives we can change when Alaska Lions invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us in service. Imagine how much stronger a community will be when you bring in a new member to serve it.

I am encouraging our members and clubs to make membership growth a priority and work with your district leadership team to achieve your goals. Building a strong membership will position us for success in our next century of service.

If you know a Lion, talk to them about their club’s community projects and find out how you can serve your community.

If you would like to learn more about Lions and our missions and events visit www.lionsclubs.org, www.sleepingladylions.org or visit us on Facebook, or our District website District 49A Lions for information and events or call me, Lion Karen 242-1129.
