A different point of view
The snow is starting to melt, it’s starting to feel like spring, and Mother’s Day is coming up.
Mother’s Day is a very special holiday that celebrates mothers and all their hard work. My mom has two kids (including me) and a wonderful puppy to help her celebrate.
I could have written what I think about Mother’s Day, but I decided I wanted to do something different. Instead, I interviewed my mom, to learn about Mother’s Day from her perspective.
Emma: If you could have one Mother’s Day wish what would it be?
Jara: well my mother lives in Italy, so I wish that we could all just spend Mother’s Day together as one big family, with my children and my mom.
E: What was your most memorable Mother’s Day?
J: The one that’s probably the most memorable, but not the best, is the Mother’s Day when I got bit by a dog. We went to my in-law’s house to celebrate Mother’s Day like we always do. While the kids were playing outside with the neighbor’s kids, their dog ran out and bit me. So that was probably the most memorable Mother’s Day but not the best.
E: What is important to you about Mother’s Day?
J: I think the most important thing is the whole idea of Mother’s Day. It’s pretty great. You get to celebrate being a mother and enjoy time with your family. Maybe your kids spoil you. All of those things are important about Mother’s Day. Honestly, it’s really just about spending time together and enjoying your family.
E: Do you have any Mother’s Day traditions?
J: Yes I do. Every Mother’s Day my daughter, my mother-in-law, and I go flower shopping at P&M Gardens. We pick out flowers for the summer. They also have Mother’s Day cake! We always have cake while we shop.
E: What was the best Mother’s Day gift you have ever gotten?
J: I remember one year my kids completely spoiled me with breakfast in bed. They also surprised me with a gift certificate to get a massage.
