It’s WEEK TWENTY-TWO of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AAA recap.
Garcia’s vs. Jalapeno’s
On Wednesday 2-28-28 the AAA division of the ERHL took to the ice in week 22 of the 24-week season. Last place Garcia’s took on first place Jalapeno’s in the early game. Blake Brazil of Garcia’s opened up the scoring with his goal in the first period. From then on, it was a downhill slide for the guys from Garcia’s as they were penalized eight times during the game accumulating 22 penalty minutes including two, ten-minute misconduct penalties. Jalapeno’s took advantage of having the extra player by scoring two power play goals. The first of which was scored in the second period by Carl Hanson and tying the game at one apiece. Before the period ended however, Brazil notched his second goal of the evening making it 2-1. The second power play goal for Jalapeno’s came in the third when Ben Russell scored knotting the game at 2-2. It got down to the wire, with 1:12 left to play, Billy Bagron scored the game winner making the final 3-2, Jalapeno’s. The division standings show Garcia’s with 12 points and record of 5-15-2. Jalapeno’s with 37 points and a record of 17-2-3.
Pizza Man vs. Homestead
In the late game, third place Homestead defeated second place Pizza Man 4-1. Mid-way through the first, Pizza Man’s Max Daughtery was whistled for hooking. Homestead seized on the man advantage when Taylor Garner scored unassisted on the power play making it 1-0. At 13:02 of the second, Jalapeno’s Matt Viens was called for tripping and Pizza man’s Dwayne Daniel netted an unassisted power play goal making it 1-1. After getting out of the box, Viens netted the go-ahead goal followed by teammate Powell Gallagher’s goal to end the period 3-1. In the final goal of the game, Gallagher dished the puck to Brice Parks who found the back of the net at 7:45 making the final 4-1. In the four team AAA division, Pizza Man has 23 points with a record of 10-9-3 and Homestead has 16 points with a record of 6-12-4.
