Cub’s Painting vs. Stellar Designs
On Wednesday night, the AA division ERHL playoff battle waged on with the 3rd seed Cubs taking on 6th seed Stellar Designs. Stellar added a bit of Cinderella to the tournament storyline, upsetting the Cubs with a 2-0 shutout. Upset or not, this news won’t bust any brackets as the Cubs and Stellar still have plenty of more playoff ice time in the next three nights. It’s too early to tell in this AA round-robin who will get the last dance, but if there were an above-and-beyond achievement trophy, so far Stellar’s stopper Chris Harrington would take home that crystal muck boot. Harrington has been the playoffs Iron Man of the ice, pulling double duty for AAA Garcias on offense while also saving Stellar’s AA bacon in the net. Don’t call it moonlighting. Harrington scored Garcia’s game-winning goal the previous night and tonight he was the masked amoeba, engulfing all 28 shot attempts on goal for the Stellars. Todd Dudinsky led the scoring experiment for Stellar, releasing a mitt monster in the second and assisting on another puck play late in the third. At 7:56 into the middle period, Dudinsky took a feed from David Kosinski. Clearing traffic down the middle lane, Dudinsky cruised the crease then pulled the hand brake as he dumped the puck inside the right post, 1-0 Stellar. With 1:35 remaining in the third, Dudinsky dealt an ace to Ty Johnston, who took it to the house for the 2-0 final score. Cubs stopper Patrick Zmuda had 16 saves on the night in the upset loss.
