Cubs vs. PIAS
3-30-18-  Thursday night at the Mac, it was lucky Game 7 of the ERHL AA division playoffs. Cubs Painting matched up against Play It Again Sports where the respective third and fifth seeded teams played each other to a 2-2 draw.  James Kostka broke the seal first for the Cubbies on his quick score just over a minute into the first period and Garret Staudinger accepting credit for the corkage fee, 1-0 Cubs. Midway into the first, PIAS Don Bruno answered back with a heavy shot from the right of the crease, closing out first period play with the 1-1 unassisted equalizer.  At 6:30 in the second period, Brian Emerton gave the Cubs a 2-1 go-ahead goal off a deflection behind the net. Emerton swashbuckled around the backstop and hooked the puck inside the right post, assisted by Nate Curnow. In the third period, Paul Johnson tied up the match for PIAS 2-2 when he took the puck up the middle with some fancy stick work and planted the equalizer in the right side from the middle crease.  Cub’s goalie Patrick Zmuda had 10 saves in the net while PIAS stopper Chris Harrington had 14 saves on goal. It would be the first of three games Harrington would suit up for on the night, surely helping his chances of securing a future ERHL Hall of Fame first year ballot.
