It’s WEEK TWENTY-ONE of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap.
Shines Sushi vs. ER Alehouse
With three games remaining in the regular season, teams in the ERHL are battling for playoff positioning. In week 21, the AA teams played Sunday 2-25-18 at the MAC. Up first, third place Shines (12-8-1) took on second place ER Alehouse (12-6-3). The teams traded first period goals, starting with Chad Lammers when he scored unassisted for the Alehouse. Nicholas Bennett with help from Doug Keller tied the score midway through the period. With five minutes left to play in the first, Alehouse’s Steve Truesdell scored unassisted to end the period 2-1. Only one goal was scored in the second, thanks to Ryan Weaver with help from Lammers making the score 3-1. In the final frame, the Alehouse added two more to the scoresheet when Chuck Homan and Adam Purdy scored respectively, making the final, 5-1 Alehouse.
Stellar Designs vs. Cubs Printing
In the second game of the evening, last place Stellar shutout first the place Cubbies. After scoreless first period, Ty Johnson scored unassisted as did Robert McCormick ending the period 2-0. In the third, with 1:52 left, Blasé Andromeda-Focht with help from Johnson added to the final tally, making the score, 3-0. Stellar’s netminder Chris Harrington was credited with the shutout win. Currently, Stellar has nine points with a record of 4-14-3 and Cub’s has 27 points with a record of 11-5-5.
Play It Again Sports vs. OMR Brewing
In the final game of the evening, fourth place OMR took on fifth place PIAS. The first period had the teams trading goals. PIAS struck first when Ryan McCormick scored unassisted. Two minutes later, OMR’s Adam Muller also scored unassisted to end the period 1-1. But’s that all PIAS would put up on the board as OMR finished the games scoring. In the second, Michael Filarski with help from Matthew St. Pierre made the score 2-1 to take the lead. For insurance, in the third, Alfonzo Guzman scored after Jason Novotny fed him the puck to make the final score 3-1, OMR. In this game, referees called six penalties, three on each team. Play It Again sits in fifth place with 14 points and a record of 6-13-2 and OMR in fourth place with 20 points and record of 9-8-4.
