It’s WEEK EIGHTEEN of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AAA recap.
Jalapeno’s vs. Pizza Man
In ERHL hockey action, AAA division leaders battled it out to a 4-4 tie at the MAC on 1-31-18. Pizza Man (9-6-3) is 10 points behind division leader, Jalapeno’s (14-1-3) in the four-team division. The teams traded goals throughout the game scoring in all three periods. Former Mustang and UAA Seawolf standout, Eric Lawson started things off for Pizza Man. That goal was answered right back from another former Mustang and UAF Nanook, Robert Monfore. It was the same thing in the second period. Pizza Man’s Shawn Casey netted the first goal of the period and Billy Bagron tied the game 2-2 with his goal for Jalapeno’s before the period ended. It got really interesting in the third. Pizza Man’s Jake Thompson was sent to the penalty box for roughing. Pizza Man penalty killers almost killed off the penalty. With only seconds remaining in the penalty, Jalapano’s Ben Russell netted a power play goal to take the lead, 3-2. With period winding down, another former Mustang, Michael McCurtain tied the game 3-3 with his goal at 3:47. Less than a minute later, Jalapeno’s Billy Bagron netted his second goal of the evening, making it 4-3. It’s not over till it’s over. Former Mustang, Bandon Hall tied the game at the 1:42 mark to make for an exciting finish, and a 4-4 tie. Goaltender Seth Kollman made 23 saves for Jalapeno’s and Gary Hanson made 24 saves for Pizza Man.

Garcias Ryan Comer lead off the scoring in the first period. In the second, Blake Brazil and Matt Guerts both scored. Guerts, netted his second goal of the night to start the third period and finally, Ryan Ghan netted the final goal of the game.
