
It’s WEEK SEVENTEEN of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap.
Stellar Designs vs. ER Alehouse
It’s week 17 for the ERHL AA division and three games were played at the McDonald Center on Sunday evening, 1.28.18. Alehouse defeated Stellar 3-2 in the first game of the evening. Things started off well for the Stellar team, who got on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal from Tyler Carnahan. The second period started off strong for the Alehouse. Ryan Weaver tied the game 1-1 with his goal which was assisted by Chad Lammers. Before the period ended, the teams traded goals. Stellar’s Kevin Blanchette found the back of the net, as did Adam Purdy on the Alehouse team with the helper going to Weaver. The game was tied at 2-2 going into the third.
It didn’t take long, Lammers got the game winner, unassisted at 16:12. The Alehouse was able to hold off Stellar till the final buzzer. The Alehouse put 31 shots on Stellar’s netminder, Chris Harrington and Mike Allen from the Alehouse faced 19. Currently, Stellar is in last place in the six-team division with a record of 2-12-3. Alehouse is in second place with a record of 10-5-2.
OMR Brewing vs. Cub’s Painting
The Cubbies have only lost three games so far this season. One of those losses came Sunday night when OMR defeated the first place Cubs 3-1. OMR netted goals in all three periods. Rob Zemick started things off in the first with help from Matthew St. Pierre. Alfonzo Guzman found the back of the net in the second period and the third. Zemick got assist on the third goal. Avoiding a shutout, Cub’s Nate Curnow scored unassisted at the 1:01 mark of the third. OMR’s goalie, Jon Maroney made 14 saves on 15 shots and Cub’s netminder, Patrick Zmuda made 19 saves on 22 shots. OMR is in fourth place with a record of 6-8-3 and Cubs remain in first with a record of 10-3-4.
Play It Again Sports vs. Shines Sushi
In the late game, it was all Play It Again Sports, shutting out Shines 7-0. PIAS scored in all three periods. Three goals came in the first period. Nikoli Petrov, Ryan McCormick and Tim Plucinski all found the back of the net. The lone second period goal was scored by Robb Harbinson. In the third, McCormick netted his second goal of the night as did Petrov. The final goal was scored by Kevin Hao. The game had five penalties, four whistled on PIAS and one on Shines. Goalie Tony Boneta is credited with the shutout win making 15 saves. Nick Koleznicof put on the pads and went in net, filling in for Shines regular goalie, Neff Anastasio. Koleznicof made 13 saves on 20 shots. Shines sits in third place with a record of 10-7-0 and PIAS in fifth place, 6-9-2.
