It’s WEEK FOURTEEN of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap.
Stellar Designs vs. Play It Again Sports
The first of three games at the MAC for the ERHL AA Division on Sunday, 1-7-18 ended in a 1-1 tie. After a scoreless first period, Benjamin Hallowell from Stellar with the help from Tyler Carnhan started the scoring. The other goal, tying the game, came on a powerplay strike from Play It Again’s Don Bruno. The contest had five penalties called. Four on Stellar and one on Play It Again. Stellar remains in last place in the six-team division with a record of 2-9-3 and Play It Again in fourth place with a record of 4-8-2.
Shine’s Sushi vs. OMR Brewing
A hattrick by Shine’s Nicholas Bennett followed by two by Steven Phillips helped defeat OMR 6-2 in the second game of the evening. The other goal scored by Shine’s was by Charles Bahn in the second period. OMR scored two third period goals, first by David Roach then by Alfonzo Guzman. Each team was whistled for one penalty. Shine’s gained ground in the standings with the win, now having 18 points (9-5-0) and in second place. OMR (3-8-3) remained in fifth place with 9 points.
Eagle River Alehouse vs. Cub’s Painting
It was a big game for the division leaders in the late game on Sunday. The Alehouse shutout the first place Cubs 6-0. With the win, the Alehouse is now tied with the Cubbies with 20 points each for first place. The Alehouse’s Ryan Weaver was a force to be reckoned with. He had scored four of the six goals during the game. Chad Lammers also added to the scoresheet with a goal and two assists. The final goal was scored by Karl Greninger with :31 remaining in the game. By all indications, it was a chippy game right from the start. Five penalties were called, all for roughing. Three against Alehouse And two against the Cubbies. Alehouse goalie, Mike Allen was credited with the shutout win. The Alehouse record is now 9-3-2 and the Cub’s is 8-2-4
