Less than a minute later, Homestead’s Bryan Gibson notched another goal ending the second period with the Homesteaders leading, 3-1. Consistent pressure by Garcia’s paid off mid-way through the third when Mike Viens with help from Brazil got Garcia’s within one. With time winding down, Garcia’s pulled netminder, Joey Lindquist for the extra attacker. With :26 remaining, Homestead’s Sam Cehula scored an empty net goal making the final score, Homesteaders 4, Garcia’s 2. The shots on goal were almost even.
