It’s WEEK TWELVE of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap.
Cub’s Painting vs. OMR Brewing
The first game of the evening ended in a 4-4 tie. The lone first period goal was scored by Cub’s Ryan Ciolkosz. In the second period, Cub’s netted the next three goals. First, Garrett Staudinger, Todd Verdick and then Nate Curnow. OMR Brewing finished the period with two goals. Jason Novotny and David Roach each scored ending the period 4-2. It was all OMR in the third, Novotny got his second goal of the night and Michael Tencza tied the game at 7:22 and that’s how it would end.
The Cub’s remain in first place and OMR Brewing in fourth.
Shine’s Sushi vs. Play It Again Sports
Third place Shines controlled the game from the start by defeating fifth place Play It Again, 4-1. The only goal in the first was scored by Shine’s Nicholas Bennett. The second period started strong for Play It again when Nikoli Petrov scored, tying the game at 1-1. Shine’s netted the next two goals, the first by Joe Braunwarth the second by Russell Miller. The third and final Shine’s goal was scored by Ty Newman. Each team was accessed a minor penalty.
Eagle River Alehouse vs. Stellar Designs
In the late game, the Alehouse defeated Stellar 4-2. Stellar netted their two goals in the first period. Kevin Blanchette and Blasé Andromeda-Focht each got a goal. Randy Weaver got the Alehouse on the board with the only goal in the second period making it 2-1, Stellar.
It was the third period that determined the outcome of the game. Karl Greninger from the Alehouse tied the game with five minutes remaining. With Stellar’s Todd Dudinsky in the penalty box for holding, Weaver bagged a power play goal to take the lead. Stellar pulled goaltender Chris Harrington for an extra attacker to no avail. With the net empty, Chad Lammers scored for the Alehouse, making it final, 4-2 Alehouse.
The game had 12 penalty minutes. Alehouse was whistled for two minor penalties and Stellar for four. Alehouse remains in second place and Stellar in last place in the six team AA division.
