Spread the spirit of giving and visit your animal friends at the Alaska Zoo! It’s the annual Christmas for the Animals celebration on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 3 – 6 p.m.
Bring the whole family to this fun and festive food drive that collects much-needed supplies for the resident animals who all made Santa’s nice list this year. Stroll through the bright lights as you drop goodies in the animal’s over-sized stockings and enjoy holiday tunes.
As the animals play with their new toys and treats, warm up roasting chestnuts over the bonfire or sip on a complimentary cup of Kaladi Brothers coco. Admission is $8 per person, or $6 with a food donation, and includes access to the dazzling Zoo Lights after the event. Annual pass holders and animal adoptive parents receive free zoo admission with a food donation.
The most needed items on the animals’ wish lists include:
- Unsalted peanuts/nuts
- Peanut butter
- Jam or jelly
- Frozen fish, beef, game meat or poultry (no pork nor bear, not smoked or seasoned)
- Dog biscuits and treats
- Horse and other animal treats
- Kong pet toys
- Water-based paint
- Gift cards to local grocery and pet stores
- Mild spices (no garlic, onion)
- Scented, wide-tipped markers
