Eagle River Hockey League: AA Week Eight
It’s WEEK EIGHT of the Eagle River Hockey League, and this is the AA recap.
Eagle River Ale House vs. OMR Brewing
Second place Eagle River Ale House vs. fourth place OMR Brewing. Leading off the scoring was OMR’s Jason Novotny. He got the first goal at 12:08 of the first period. That’s how the first period ended, 1-0 OMR. It was the second period that saw all the action. A combined seven goals were scored. First, by Eagle River Ale House, tying the game at 14:55 on Karl Greninger goal with the assist from Chad Lamers. Back to OMR when Novotny got his second goal of the evening. Assists on both of Novotny’s goals were credited to Alfonzo Guzman. Back to Greninger for his second goal for Ale House guys. Lammers had a big night for the Ale House, as he scored two times in the second, making the score 4-2. The period wasn’t over yet. Matthew St. Pierre from OMR netted two goals in a span of about 45 seconds tying the game at 4-4. That’s how the game would end, there were no goals in the third. Both teams had three penalties for a total of 12 penalty minutes. Eagle River Ale House 4 – OMR Brewing 4 Final.
Cub’s Painting vs. Play it Again Sports
First place Cub’s took on last place Play it Again Sports in the second game of the night. The Cub’s easily handled Play it again winning 5-1. The lone first period goal was scored by Cubbies David Minge, with an assist by Kyle Roehling. The lone and only goal by Play it Again was scored at 3:08 of the second, by Jeff Schroeder, the helper credited to Rob Sackerson. The third period saw four unanswered goals by the Cub’s. Eric Emerton scored twice back to back. Then, Minge netted his second followed by the final goal which was scored with: 06 remaining by Adam Gabrielson. Play It Again racked up 5 penalties and Cub’s had one in the game.
Shines Sushi vs. Stellar Designs
After an uneventful first period the score was 0-0. About midway through the second, Shines got on the board with a goal by Charles Bahn with the playmaker assist going to Nicholas Bennett. Second period ended with Shines up, 1-0. The third was all Shines with two unanswered goals, one by Joe Braunwarth, the second of the period by Bennett. Each team received a tripping penalty for two minutes each. Shine’s goaltender, Neff Anastasio got the shutout win with a final score, Shines 3 – Stellar 0. Shines is in third place with a record 4-4-0 and Stellar is in fifth place with a record of 1-5-2.
