Failure to Inform Regarding Concealed Weapon and Vehicle Theft at the Gym

Thurs., April 20
APD officers responded to a report of a woman in a bank parking lot in the 11500 block of Business Blvd in Eagle River that appeared to be intoxicated. Upon investigation, the officers determined the woman was not impaired but was suffering from mental disabilities. The woman was transported to a treatment facility.
A juvenile female engaged in a verbal altercation with a former foster parent. No arrests were made in this incident that occurred in the 13600 block of Savage Drive.
An unidentified man put the keys to his 2014 Chevy Silverado truck in an unsecured locker at Body Renew in the 12400 block of the Old Glenn Highway in Eagle River while he worked out at the gym. When he returned to his locker an hour later, his keys were missing from the locker. Upon checking the parking lot, he discovered that his truck was also gone. Police continue to search for the vehicle.
Fri., April 21
Eric S. Amituanai, age 26 of Anchorage, was arrested for alleged theft and alleged misconduct involving a weapon and cited for failure to appear on a previous unrelated charge in what began as a noise complaint incident that occurred in the 19900 block of Stonehill Drive in Eagle River. APD officers responded after receiving a noise complaint call. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Amituanai in the residence driveway. While talking with Amituanai, officers noted what appeared to be a holster sticking out from the bottom of his jacket. Amituanai allegedly failed to inform officers that he was carrying a concealed weapon. Officers conducted a computer check on Amituanai’s identification and discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest and that the firearm he failed to conceal that was on his person was reported as stolen. He was transported to the Anchorage Jail.
A verbal threat was made from one person to another. The two individuals were reported to have previously lived together. The threat made in this incident that occurred in the 16500 block of the S. Birchwood Loop did not constitute a criminal act and not arrests were made.
Sun., April 23
APD officers responded to an assault allegation in the 17900 block of Hillcrest Drive in Eagle River. Two roommates – also cousins – had engaged in a verbal altercation that became a physical altercation. Thomas J. Grohol, age 24 of Eagle River, was arrested for assault after allegedly grabbing his roommate by the shirt, allegedly throwing him around and allegedly punching him in the head.
Mon., April 24
Three storage units owned by Granite Construction that were on site in the 20800 block of the Birchwood Spur Road were reported to be found damaged. Entry was made into two of the storage units and was reported to police as missing. A forklift at the address was also reported as being found damaged. Investigation into the incident continues and no arrests have been made as of press deadline.
Dylan T. Beezley, age 19 of Eagle River, was arrested for alleged operation of a motor vehicle under the influence and for being an alleged minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol/marijuana. The arrest was made in the 13400 block of the N. Eagle River exit off the Glenn Highway.
