Led by Emma Nelson – a junior – the Chugiak High School track and field team continued to run and jump faster and higher than the other high school competition last week.
Nelson took top honors in four divisions on Fri., April 21 at the afternoon track and field meet at West High School featuring student athletes from CHS, Eagle River, East and WHS. Nelson won the high jump, long jump, triple jump and the 400 meters to lead her Mustang teammates to a sweep of the team titles at the four-team event.
Other Mustangs track and field athletes winning more than one event on April 21 included: Ariana Davis for the girls 100 and 200 meter sprints, Brooklyn Gould for the girls 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles and Austin Sage for the boys long jump and triple jump.
The Mustangs track and field team is back in action on Thurs., April 27 at Service High School at 3:30 p.m. competing against Dimond, Service and West High Schools.
The Eagle River High School Wolves are in action on Fri., April 28 at South Anchorage High School at 3:30 p.m. competing against Bartlett, East and South Anchorage.
