The choice for the next Assembly member to represent Chugiak-Eagle River and JBER is very personal to me; not only because this is my hometown, but because this will be the person I will work with to represent you on the Anchorage Assembly. My analysis of this race has been at times candid, but it’s important that I explain why I feel Fred Dyson is the best choice.
The challenges we face are monumental, not only from a budget standpoint, but for the protection of the Chugiak-Eagle River community. Between the Berkowitz Administration’s targeted cuts to Chugiak-Eagle River transportation, to attacks on our service areas, we cannot afford to have someone who will side with Berkowitz consistently, or elect someone who has no clue about our community, the challenges we face, or is simply using this race as a stepping stone to higher office.
As one of your Assembly members, I can tell you this job is all consuming. It takes 40-50 hours a week to do the job well, and that is with Bill Starr by my side to carry part of the load. With Bill gone, the responsibility is monumental. I am asking the voters to send the one candidate that I know has the knowledge of the community and issues that will impact us locally, as well as the experience and resolve to not only have your back, but have mine, as we work together for the best interest of our community.
Fred Dyson has served our community on the Assembly and in the Legislature. He has fought to defend our property rights, and protect our service areas, including our Chugiak Volunteer Fire Dept. He will continue to fight for limited government, private sector solutions, prioritizing spending to focus on the essential services such as public safety, infrastructure, and education.
I am voting for Fred Dyson because I need his experience, resolve, and proven conservative principles next to me on the Assembly to drive costs down, protect our ability to control how we in Chugiak-Eagle River develop and grow as a community, and most of all, we need both of our Assembly members to put Chugiak-Eagle River first and foremost. I know Fred, and I trust he will do what he has always done, fight for the people of Chugiak-Eagle River.
Please join me and vote Fred Dyson on April 4th.
