Craigslist Contact Ends in Stolen Vehicle After Thief Uses Doogie Door to Enter Garage

Wed., Feb. 22
Glen E. Lankard, Jr, age 57 of Anchorage, was arrested and charged with alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence at the intersection of the Old Glenn Highway and the Harry MacDonald Parkway in Eagle River. An APD patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle Lankard was driving after witnessing the vehicle travel at a high rate of speed and swerve all over the roadway.
Thurs., Feb. 23
A counterfeit $10 bill was used by an unknown person for a transaction at the Chevron fuel station in the 20800 block of Bill Stephens Drive in Chugiak.
Scott Michael Muetz, age 44 of Eagle River, is being sought by police on a warrant for alleged Forgery II. Muetz has been linked by police to the alleged forgery of two checks in Feb. 2017 that were stolen from JPS Cars during a 2015 burglary at its location on the Old Glenn Highway in Eagle River.
Steven S. McIntyre, age 50 of Anchorage, was arrested and charged with alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence in the 22200 block of Lake Hill Drive in Chugiak. A citizen called APD Dispatch to alert police of a vehicle swerving all over the Glenn Highway. According to police records, a short time later the same vehicle nearly hit an APD patrol car that was stopped at another unrelated traffic stop on the Glenn Highway.
Mon., Feb. 27
James Michael Wingate, age 38 of Eagle River, was cited for driving with a suspended license and expired vehicle registration. APD patrol witnessed the vehicle Wingate was driving roll through a stop sign in the 11900 block of Town Park Circle in Eagle River. The vehicle being driven by Wingate was seized by police as Wingate is currently listed on the Municipality of Anchorage Scofflaw List for multiple unpaid traffic citations.
Jeremy L. Perino, age 28 of Eagle River, was arrested and charged with alleged Assault III, Burglary I, Robbery I, Theft IV and Vehicle Theft I for an incident occurring in the 19300 block of Verdant. Perino allegedly entered an occupied home through doggie door of the garage where two female residents were home at the time of the alleged illegal entry. Perino allegedly assaulted both women before stealing a 1996 Ford Explorer from the garage. After receiving a tip from another private citizen, Perino was arrested in Anchorage the following day. The Ford Explorer was recovered on in Anchorage. According to police records, Perino had met one of the two female victims via an online Craigslist post.
An unidentified individual was dumping large amounts of gray water over an embankment. This case is pending to determine if the action was unlawful.
Tues., Feb. 28
Sarah M. Peterson, age 31 of Palmer, was arrested and charged with alleged Vehicle Theft 1 after a private citizen called APD Dispatch to inform police that he was following a vehicle that belonged to him but had been stolen from the Eagle River Fred Meyer parking lot. The citizen told police that he witnessed a female driver and a male passenger walking away from the stolen vehicle after it became stuck in the snow on Homestead Drive in Eagle River. Police made contact with the alleged driver and alleged passenger on the front porch of a nearby home in the 10400 block of Chain of Rock Street in Eagle River. Seth E. Butcher, age 32 of Anchorage, was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant and additionally charged with alleged Criminal Mischief V.
