FOCUS, Inc., (Family Outreach Center for Understanding Special Needs) in Eagle River earned $616.88 as an award from Value Village as a result of the agency’s recent clothing and gently used items donation drive.
The items that included 2,920 pounds of soft good, 268 pounds of hard good and 284 pounds of books were brought to the South Anchorage store on Dimond Blvd on Feb. 15.
“There were families from all over Chugiak-Eagle River and JBER that brought us their gently used items,” Jenna Morales, community relations manage for FOCUS, said. “We would like to thank all of the families and businesses that helped us to fundraise.”
Collections bins were stationed at Chugiak Elementary School, Lesley’s Cakes, the Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union branch in Eagle River and the VCA Eagle River Animal Hospital.
“They were wonderful partners in helping us to achieve our goal,” Morales said.
The funds awarded to FOCUS from Value Village are designated to support family services through FOUCS and assist the agency in achieving its mission to offer personalized guidance to families and individuals who experience special needs.
The ECHO News wishes to extend “Kudos” to FOCUS, its staff and the families that supported this effort.
