Glenn Closed Twice Sunday
February 21, 2017 by Press Releases in Press Release

A fire truck valued at $500,000 owned and operated by the Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is most likely totaled, according to Cliff Dalton, CVFRC fire chief, after it was struck by an oncoming red Suburban Sunday morning while volunteer crews responded to a multi-vehicle accident on the inbound Glenn Highway just north of the N. Eagle River exit.

“Thank God no one was hurt,” Dalton texted the ECHO News Sunday afternoon. “Our crews were attending to the patients of the first wreck.”

This incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. and was the first of two vehicle collisions to temporarily close the Glenn on Sunday.

Another multi-vehicle incident occurred late afternoon near the South Birchwood exit. The Anchorage Police Department sent out a Nixle report at 3:51 p.m. to alert the public of the second closure of the day. No further details were available at the time.
