A group of singers from the Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center traveled to the 28th Annual Anchorage Folk Festival recently in the only lane open to traffic into town because of a major snowfall.
It was the first public performance by the group composed of seniors from the center who have been encouraged and accompanied by guitarist Linda Shepard and Betty Burke who is on the staff at the center. If experience counts, it was discovered that the combined years the group has lived is almost 700, although most of those years were not spent singing.
The songs presented were I’m my Own Grandpa, How Much is that Doggie in the Window, Let me Call you Sweetheart, and God Bless America. Others who like to sing are encouraged to join the group and for more information can call the CERSC office.
