Wed., Dec, 21
Rodney S. Whitstine, age 29 of Palmer, was arrested for alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence near the intersection of the Birchwood Loop Road and the Old Glenn Highway in Eagle River. APD dispatch received a call from a citizen who observed a vehicle being driven at erratic speed and swerving on the roadway. Officers located the vehicle and pulled it over for a traffic stop.
Thurs., Dec. 22
A credit card from a wallet stolen from a vehicle parked at the Three Bears store in Chugiak in the 22200 block of the Birchwood Loop Road was used to make fraudulent purchases.
Sat., Dec. 24
Paul S. Hebert, age 22 of Wasilla, was arrested for alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence in the 25000 block of the Glenn Highway. APD patrol officers pulled the vehicle Hebert was driving over for clocking the vehicle at 81 miles per hour in a 65-mile-per-hour zone and for having illegally tinted windows.
Sun., Dec. 25
Dale F. Sexton II, age 33 of Eagle River, was arrested for alleged fear assault and family violence when he turned himself into the Anchorage Jail. APD officers had earlier responded to a report of an alleged assault by Sexton II on a family member at a home in the 20500 block of Pine Crest in Eagle River. Sexton II had left the home before police arrival. Officers obtained an arrest warrant. Police reports indicate that alcohol was a contributing factor to the alleged assault.
Zachary Yarian, age 23 of Eagle River, was arrested for alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence at the corner of Eagle River Road and Lee Street in Eagle River. A citizen called APD dispatch to report stopping to check on a driver in a vehicle driven into the ditch near the intersection. The citizen told police the driver showed signs of being impaired. When officers arrived on the scene, the vehicle was unoccupied. Officers found Yarian walking away from the scene just a short distance from the intersection. Upon investigating the scene, officers allegedly found alcohol and marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle that was in the ditch. Both items were seized from the vehicle on another date after a search warrant was obtained.
An unknown suspect entered a work van parked near the home of the van’s driver and stole several items worth $700 from the van.
An APD patrol officer stopped to check on the occupant of a vehicle stuck in the median of the Glenn Highway near the S. Birchwood exit. A fire truck was already on scene. Anchorage Fire Department personnel told APD patrol officers they had stopped to make sure the driver, Mary E. Cahill, age 55 of Eagle River, was not injured. Cahill was not injured, but allegedly showed signs of being impaired. After further investigation, APD officers arrested for Cahill for alleged operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Mon., Dec. 26
The generator from a light tower trailer/generator that was rented from United Rentals and parked at ACF Church in Anchorage was reported stolen sometime the night of Dec. 26. The generator had a GPS tracker on it and was located by officers in an abandoned lot in Eagle River in the 18400 block of Bernard Drive. No suspect information is currently available.
