A 14-year-old Chugiak resident will be featured on Dec. 13 in a concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Natural Pantry Café in Anchorage. The event is sponsored by the Nashville Songwriting Association International.
Rivers Ducharme of Chugiak is one of seven performers being present on Dec. 13. She is a Chugiak High School freshman and has been writing music for four years. Ducharme will perform some of her original compositions. She is also a singer and is a member of the CHS swing choir.
“I write only because I truly enjoy it. I find the songwriting process so much fun and an enjoyable way to spend my time,” Ducharme said in a press release issued by the NSA.
Ducharme said she joined the NSAI to expand her knowledge of songwriting and to become a more successful writer.
“This is all a huge learning process, and I’m honestly honored to be learning from such talented people. All the members I’ve met have opened my eyes to new perspectives on writing and various approaches. I’m beyond proud to be a part of Nashville Songwriters Association International and look forward to performing my songs at the Songwriter’s Showcase in Anchorage,” Ducharme said.
