Gobble, gobble, gobble and paint yourself a pretty turkey decoration fit for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Rivers Edge Studio Gallery & Unique Gifts is sponsoring a paint night just for art lovers who also want to help families in need in the local community.
Bring a 15-pound turkey to the studio in the old Fuji Gifts on the Old Glenn Highway across from the fire station and spend a couple hours learning how to paint a colorful turkey with step-by-step instruction from one of the studio’s artists.
Turkeys are being donated to Chugiak Children’s Services to help client families.
“With Halloween becoming such a huge holiday and Christmas right around the corner, Thanksgiving often gets forgotten,” Stephanie LeProwse, studio owner, said. “Believe it or not, there are many families in our community in serious need. We decided to create a fun evening and help out others in our community.”
“Paint for Turkeys” as LeProwse has dubbed the event is being held Nov. 10 and 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the studio. Reservations are required. Bring your turkey when you arrive.
Register by calling LeProwse at 351-3516.
