Despite a 12-6 loss to the Dimond Lynx on Sept. 21, the Eagle River High Wolves varsity flag football team considers the game a success. “Last time we played Dimond in August, it was 46-0,” commented Bob Warren, head coach.
He sees improvement in his player’s games. Jessi Scott, a Wolves senior playing, was injured during the game. Anchorage Fire Department paramedics treated her on the field and prepared her for transport via ambulance to a local hospital for a suspected broken leg. X-rays did not show a break, according to Warren. Scott was back in school on crutches later in the week nursing a suspected bruised or torn quadriceps muscle.
Before her injury, Scott ran eight times for 110 yards including an 80-yard touchdown run. On defense, she had five pulls. Stats for other Wolves players include:
- Lauryn Green, senior, three runs for 15 yards; two caught passes for ten yards. Six pulls on defense including two for losses against Dimond’s offense.
- Soo Lee, the senior, had six pulls with two for a loss. Sierra Love, junior, had six pulls with one for a loss.
- Abby Mampreian, the Wolves quarterback completed ten of 16 passes for 55 yards with no turnovers. The senior QB also ran three times for six yards.
- Kyle Wisdom, a junior/senior graduating early, caught two passes for 15 yards and had five pulls on defense.
