With the primary election results tallied and certified, I want to thank the voters of Chugiak, Eagle River, Fire Lake, Birchwood and JBER for expressing their trust in me with a solid 2-to-1 victory. With no general election opponent, I will proudly continue to represent District 13 in the State House.
Getting out to campaign helped sharpen my understanding of voters’ concerns, and helped voters get a clearer perspective on how I’m working hard to meet their needs. It was a pleasure to debate the issues at local forums and TV debates, answer voter inquiries and questionnaires, and most of all talk with friends and neighbors while going door-to-door.
We face significant challenges next legislative session. They include cutting government spending, building consensus on revenue, and making the smart next step on the natural gas pipeline project. We must also keep providing for good educations for our children, safe communities for families, and efficient roads for travelers.
It is truly a privilege to serve the people of Chugiak-Eagle River, and I deeply appreciate everyone who made this service possible. I pledge to do my absolute best to keep serving our community’s interests and representing our local values in Juneau.
